Camino de Paz Farm

CAMINO de PAZ FARM is the setting in which our school is fully integrated. The farm is structured as a teaching center for our students, the local community and the broader sustainable farming community. Camino de Paz Farm has market gardens, animal husbandry and processed foods divisions. Sustainability is key to what the farm is about. It means that we are soil builders and water conservers. We use as few outside inputs as possible, especially fossil fuels.

Colonel and Bess (our Belgian draft team) are responsible for all our heavy work. In addition to the horses, we use solar power in our animal grazing program. Animals play many roles on the farm: cultivators, soil builders, mowers, sources for food and textiles and even soap-making. At Camino de Paz Farm we try to not let anything go to waste and we waste no opportunity. We are proponents of everyone enjoying locally and naturally grown produce.

Besides Maria Montessori, our farm has been inspired by the works of Masanobu Fukuoka (One Straw Revolution) and E. F. Schumacher (Small is Beautiful.) Camino de Paz Farm uses no genetically modified organisms (GMO's), no pesticides and no chemicals.
