AMI - Association Montessori International Founded by Maria Montessori, headquartered in Holland with AMI-USA headquarters in Rochester, NY. Institution for training teachers in the Montessori method of instruction. Has affiliated branches in most countries. AMS - American Montessori Society U. S. based training program for the instruction of teachers in the Montessori method. Not affiliated with AMI, above. North American Montessori Teachers Association (NAMTA) An international organization of Montessori schools, practitioners and researchers. This site page has a special section on Montessori adolescent education and research, particularly regarding farm schools. CNG - Certified Naturally Grown A U. S. based organization for recognizing, inspecting and certifying small farms for holistic growing. It is separate from the US government certified organic program which is dominated by large farms with mono-crops, shipping long distances and depending on fossil fuels. Unlike the government program, Naturally Grown farms focus on local markets. |
