Staff
Patricia Pantano, Education Director, has AMI training on the Primary and Elementary levels and a BA in Sociology from St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, IN. She studied and taught in Tokyo, Japan, for 2 years before teaching Montessori pre-school in 1975. She spent another 12 years at the elementary level in both public and private schools. She was Middle School Coordinator and teacher at the St. Alcuin Montessori School in Dallas from 1986 -1998 and has worked with adolescents ever since. She believes strongly in the power of linking the adolescent to the real world. She is a member of NAMTA and AMI, a former board member of AMI-EAA and the Labyrinth Resource Group in Santa Fe. She plays marimba, piano and guitar, loves to sing, be outdoors and work with her hands.
Greg Nussbaum has a BA in Philosophy from University of Notre Dame, MA in Economics from Catholic University and MBA from University of Texas at Dallas. He is the Camino de Paz Farm Director, coordinating the students' work with what needs to be done on the farm. He teaches farm-related subjects such as anatomy, plant and soil science, machine mechanics, animal husbandry, etc. He was a member of the Santa Fe Farmers' Market Board of Directors and also served as a board member of the Santa Fe Farmers' Market Institute.
Bridget Love graduated from Princeton University in 2003 with a degree in Religious Studies. Since then she has worked in Chicago Public Schools and taught adolescents for three years at Near North Montessori School in Chicago. Since moving to Santa Fe in 2008, she has worked at DeVargas Middle School in an afterschool program. She as completed NAMTA's Orientation to Montessori Adolescent Education and holds a New Mexico K-8 Teachers License. Bridget enjoys outdoor activities and music and has coached basketball and soccer.
Margaret Hanna graduated cum laude from the University of Maine with a BA in Public Administration and minor in History. Maggie is the school's office manager; she is also part of the teaching and farm staff. She has been a public service intern with AmeriCorps in Maine and worked for three years as an office manager for Conergy, Inc. before she began teaching. She is a licensed K-8 teacher and has worked at the middle and high school levels with Santa Fe Public Schools. She has done volunteer work both at Camino de Paz and El Rancho de los Golondrinas.
Christina Bentrup is a graduate of St. John's College who went on to earn a Master of Science in Biology from Northern Arizona University (graduating summa cum laude). She has since taught at Northern Arizona University and worked there as a lab technician. She has also had six years experience in farming, landscaping and orchard management. Christina works chiefly with the Horticulture Crew and other botany and farm sciences.
Visiting Instructors
Throughout the year, various experts from the community visit CdP to share their knowledge and wisdom during special visits. In addition there are other visiting instructors who come on a regular basis, a few of these include:
Peter Swing of Pauli-Swing music school and the marimba group, Polyphony Marimba, provides marimba instruction every week at CdP. Peter was a driving force behind the youth band, Ande, and has regular classes for children and adults in Santa Fe. Our students perform on average of every other month at schools, concerts, conferences, for the elderly and at SF Farmers' Market.
