Welcome to Camino de Paz Farm and School
The mission of Camino de Paz is to challenge each student to achieve his or her greatest potential academically, socially and spiritually through intellectual studies, creative expression, community participation and manual work based on values that support cultural diversity, local economies, organic farming and alternative building. We work to raise awareness of our place as global citizens living on an imperiled earth. Inspired by Maria Montessori's Erdkinder theory and dedication to world peace, Camino de Paz School was created as a land-based educational community for students ages twelve to eighteen. Camino de Paz is located on a working organic farm. Daily practical experiences, along with service learning, outdoor education, arts and music provide a meaningful context for |

academic studies. The school is an international community in which students develop their interpersonal and social skills in an atmosphere of respect and tolerance. Students learn to cooperate instead of compete, to problem solve, to take responsibility for their learning and behavior and to find the best in themselves.
The school is in a natural setting along the Santa Cruz River in the Rio Grande River Valley, about 25 miles north of Santa Fe, New Mexico. The sun rises over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and sets behind the Jemez Mountains. Our valley is the home of ancient pueblo cultures, the center for modern art of the American West personified by Georgia O'Keefe, and the birth place of the atomic bomb. Camino de Paz is a growing community made up of students, friends, resident guides, non-resident guides, neighbors, nearby farmers and our many wonderful supporters. We host many events such as farm tours, outings, reading groups, and continuing education programs. The local community is often invited to participate in our activities. Please check our calendar (under Support) for upcoming events |
